A Compassionate Journey Towards Understanding and Supporting Child Development

Whether you’re expecting a baby, navigating the early days of parenthood, or looking for support with your child or adolescent’s emotional wellbeing, I offer a range of compassionate, relationship-based services designed to meet you and you child where you are. All of my work is grounded in supporting mental health by understanding attachment theory, and nervous system awareness. At the heart of everything is a warm, non-judgemental space where families can think, reflect, and grow.

Circle of Security

The Circle of Security (COS) parenting programme is an evidence-based, relationship-based group designed to help parents better understand and respond to their child's emotional needs. In the group, we explore the ways children seek comfort, support, and connection, and how parents can provide a secure base from which their child can confidently explore the world. Through discussion, reflection, and practical strategies, parents gain insight into their child's behaviour, learn to recognise their child's cues, and develop skills to respond in ways that strengthen attachment and emotional connection. The group offers a safe, supportive space to share experiences, reflect on challenges, and build confidence in parenting — helping families develop stronger, more attuned relationships.

I pride myself in being occupational focused, neurodiverse affirming and trauma informed.

As a parent I know that one size does not fit all and that sensitive children, require sensitive parenting.

I aim to create a safe space which allows for reflection and clarify of thought.

Together we will think about your current cause for concern, your child’s strength and potential support needs. I hope to be able to offer some initial thoughts and strategies while also signposting to relevant reading, research and resources, if appropriate.

Consultation can be used as a one off or alternatively if and when needed, with no ongoing commitment.

Please note that a consultation is not a full assessment rather an opportunity to hear where you are currently at and what you would like support with.

Reframe & Regulate

Four weeks of support and understanding

A four week group which is for parents of school aged children who have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder and/or attention, deficit hyperactivity disorder. Or alternatively parents who are experiencing ‘challenging behaviour’ or consider their child to be neurodivergent (with or without a diagnosis). The content is definitely not diagnosis dependent!

What does it involve?

Four live group session delivering weekly content, followed by a discussion and an opportunity to ask questions.

Four workbooks, one delivered weekly direct to your email address, creating an opportunity for personal reflection and development.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

The sessions address behaviours in a compassionate and informed way, grounded in neuroscience and honouring neurodiversity. A strength based approach rather than compliance based strategies. Attendance at the group aims to empower parents to empower their children.

My pledge to you

“Perception and understanding changes our response.” I strive to create a safe, positive, nurturing, and supportive space for parents. I aim to provide direction and exploratory mindset, while sharing theory and strategies to support daily function and positive relationships.

Spontaneous feedback from a parent who was part of my very first parents group, almost a year after attending.

” … you should know your work really is transformational. It makes such a huge difference when you shift your mindset... I wish I had known more when my child was younger when it was so, so hard, but anyway, now I know and it really has changed my mind on acceptance and on expectations for just now and the future.”

Week one - Deficits to Differences

Reframing deficits to differences – An introduction to the neurodiversity paradigm; thinking about the language we use and the lens we view the world through. We place value on individual perspective and focus on the strengths and interests of the young person. We explore ways to increase an individuals sense of safety, as safety is the foundation to growth and development.

Week two - Behaviour management to Emotional regulation

Reframing behaviour management to emotional regulation – Understanding that behaviour can be viewed as a communication, a means to self sooth and/or a survival response. We introduction the eight senses and consider their role in supporting emotional regulation, or in some situations causing dysregulation. We will start to explore and develop a toolbox of strategies and ideas to support your child or young person with emotional regulation.

Week three - React to Respond

We will think together about the role of the parent/carer in supporting emotional regulation. We will explore the concept of co- regulation and consider activities that are individualised to meet the child’s needs, which will strengthen relationships and aid calming. With the right knowledge, we can take the time to respond rather than react.

Week four - Critical to Curious

We will focus on ways and means to support the child and young person to understand themselves and encourage them to embrace their identity in a positive way. We will learn to be curious to the young persons experience and validate this, while sharing perspective and supporting the vision of future possibilities.
